Vaguely Victorian Outfit

Description

This is my Vaguely Victorian Outfit I realise its not historically accurate, especially not in construction which I kind of made up as I went along. Now that I have made a pattern though I might go back, change some bits and make another. I've just been in quite a victorian mood recently and wanted a vaguely victorian outfit.

The red faux-silk in this photo looks terrible, it has flaired up into quite a garish red, but I can't seem to stop it doing that. The buttons are made from a little 'cover your own button' set which I quite enjoyed doing and might well do again in some future projects. The buttonholes are hand finished as at the time I didn't have a sewing machine that could do the job.

The black and red of the top are the same outfit joined where the lace is, the collar is two different colouts to give the impression that the black half is a little jacket without all the extra layers. I got the idea from an outfit I saw someone wearing at WGW, but I didn't get a photo.

The skirt and the bustle are seperate so that I can wear the bustle part with other skirts.

The sleeves are supposed to be slightly puffed, although I think I was a bit too subtle because its hardly visable, you can just about see it on the right, but not on the left for some reason.

Oh! oh!! OMG that dress is gorgeous!! I love the color and the design of the dress.... You used a good amount of black and red for the contrast of the dress.... The black is a bit shiny but it still looks good ^^ many.. I need to get working on my outfits now! ^^
