I wanted a comfortable travelling coat, something akin to wearing a sleeping bag for long journeys etc.

I settled on something very similar to the travelling robe that Eowyn wears in the Two Towers (Lord of the Rings - like you didn't know). Of course I went for a black option.

I have no idea what the fabric is, I bought it on sale with no fibre information. It looks like a cotton velvet but is slightly softer although equally weighted. The fur, is fake, although a very good quality fake.

The front is slightly raised compared to the back to aid in climbing stairs etc. I have hidden pockets in the seam between the side front and side back panels. The hood is based on the cape in the Scottish widows adverts, extra large.

I started making this coat about a year ago, then it got too warm to wear so I stopped making it. I have only just picked it up and finished it off now, just in time for it to be too warm again. It is lined with an acetate satin, although it looks warmer than it is, the fur makes it look suitable for the arctic.
