Purple Velvet Set

I'm quite pleased with how this outfit turned out, it reminds me of when I first started sewing and tried to use as much scrap fabric as possible (because when you begin sewing you have many failed attempts and buying the fabric stright off is expensive)

I bought this fabric (purple velvet bocade) with the sole intention of making a purple corset [link] but liked it so much I decided to make a whole outfit to match. The fabric sold out however and the shop had no intention of buying more. As a result I planned this entire outfit around 1.5m of purple fabric.

The skirt includes a lovely black devore to bulk it out and the trim on all the purple items are frills made from collecting all purple scraps together no matter how small they were.

Although I never really liked boleros before, I think I have warmed to them now. I didn't have enough fabric to make anything else, and this was all I could think of. If I had more fabric I would probably have added a different shape to the sleeves. The neck closes with a hook and eye, and a satin ribbon detail.
