I wanted to make a nice plain and versatile bustle that could go over any skirt to liven it up. Originally made to wear to a friends wedding, I had a skirt and victorian blouse for the day and wanted to liven it up for the evening with bustle and corset.
The bustle is plain black polycotton with a bought lace trim, the back has net stiched into the underside to help the drapes plump out, the front is just draped without net.
The 'back' photo includes a skirt (bought) to give a better idea of how the bustle sits, it looks a bit weird hovering on the dummy without anything underneath
The bustle goes on like a skirt with an elasticated waistband, I really like elasticated waists, it makes getting dressed so much quicker, I think I only use zips now on very tight fitting items
Pattern: Me
Bought items: Lace trim

This is absolutely gorgeous. I'd definitely buy this! Do you take orders?
I've been looking everywhere for a semi modern bustle. A regular bustle but shorter, I suppose. Knee-length or so...
